Why Plant in the Fall?
Fall is a great time to plant. In the fall, the soil is still warm from the summer
months which encourages root growth until the ground freezes. In the spring,
once the ground thaws, the roots continue to grow at a faster rate than if the
same plant was planted in the spring. When summer arrives, the fall planted
plant will be able to handle the heat better then the spring plant due to its
established root system. Fall also brings cooler weather for the gardener,
more dependable rainfall, and fewer pest and disease problems.
